Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar: India’s Shooting Star Shines with Asian Games Bronze

On Monday, shooter Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar took bronze in the men’s 10 m air rifle individual final at the 2018 Asian Games in Hangzhou. He finished third with a total of 228.8 points. Lihao Sheng of China won the gold medal (253.3 points), while Hajun Park of South Korea took silver (251.3 points).

This is India’s fourth shooting medal from Hangzhou. Divyansh Panwar, Rudrankksh Patil, and Aishwary Tomar of Team India won gold in the Men’s 10 m air rifle team shooting event earlier today.

Their score of 1893.7 not only claimed first place, but also broke China’s global record of 1893.3 points achieved in August 2023. South Korea won the silver medal with a total of 1890.1 points. China finished in third place, with 1888.2 points.

This was India’s first Asian Games gold medal in Hangzhou.

So far, India has won nine medals at the Asian Games, including one gold, three silver, and five bronze. The Asian Games Hangzhou shooting events will take place from September 24 to October 1. At the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre, 33 medal events in rifle, pistol, and shotgun categories will be held.
