Asia Olympic Qualifiers: Nancy and Elavenil’s Stunning Air Rifle Gold-Silver Double

Nancy Mandhotra won the women’s air rifle gold medal in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Wednesday, beating compatriot and former world No.1 Elavenil Valarivan by 0.1 point.

Nancy Mandhotra won the women’s air rifle gold medal in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Wednesday, beating compatriot and former world No.1 Elavenil Valarivan by 0.1 point.

The Indian ladies may have swept the medals but for Shen Yufan of China finishing third ahead of World Championship medalist Mehuli Ghosh.

The Indian trio did, however, set an Asian record by defeating Singapore by 15.3 points. Ramita Jindal (633.6) and Tilottama Sen (632.8) both scored well in the RPO portion.

World champion Rudrankksh Patil was pushed to third place in men’s air rifle by Ma Sihan of China and Choe Daehan of Korea. Individual medalists in junior women’s air rifle were Isha Taksale, Khyaty Chaudhary, and Anvii Rathod.

Pan Bowen of China won gold in junior men’s air rifle, beating out Abhinav Shaw and Parth Mane. With seven gold, five silver, and five bronze medals, India topped the medals table. China came up second with four gold medals, two silver medals, and three bronze medals.
