Asian Champions Trophy 2023: All You Need to Know

The Asian Champions Trophy Hockey 2023 will be held in Chennai from the 3rd to the 12th of August, with six Asian teams competing for the championship.

The Indian squad has a strong track record in the Asian championship, and they will go into the competition as heavy favourites to win the title. The event will be held in Chennai’s Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium for the first time since India won its second Asia Cup championship in 2007.

The seventh edition of the continental meet will include six elite Asian hockey teams: India, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Japan, and China. No. 4 in the world India is the tournament’s top-ranked team. China is placed 25th out of the six countries.

Mascot

This year’s Asian championship mascot is Elephant Bomman, who was inspired by the Oscar-winning Netflix documentary The Elephant Whisperers. The documentary depicts how the mahout Bomman and his wife, Bellie, cared for the orphaned baby elephant Raghu.

The Asian Championship will be broadcast live on the Star Sports network, and the matches will also be live-streamed on Fan Code. Outside of India, viewers may follow the action live via the live-streaming portal Watch Hockey.
