Asian Junior Weightlifting Championship Day 5: Pallavi Sanapathi won silver, Madinabonu Djuraeva of Uzbekistan clinched gold

On Day Five of the Asian Youth and Junior weightlifting championships on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, lifters from Uzbekistan dominated the proceedings in both men and women, capturing four golds, one silver, and two bronze medals.

Pallavi Sanapathi, the junior lifter weighing 64kg, won silver with a total lift of 196kg (87kg in snatch and 109kg in clean and jerk). Harika Bellana on the other hand won in 58kg category with a total life of 176kg.

Fatemeh Keshavarz of Iran took gold with a total lift of 197 kg (86+111 kg), while Madinabonu Djuraeva of Uzbekistan took bronze with a total lift of 190 kg.

Khikamillo Khaydarov won the Youth 73kg category with a total lift of 287kg, while Ludmila Elefteriadi won the Women’s 59kg division with a total lift of 177kg.

Bedabrat Bharali of India earned the country’s second gold medal on Monday, topping the podium in the men’s 67kg category at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Greater Noida.
