Australia Open Day 2: Mithun Manjunath’s enter round 2 reigning victory against Rank 7, Loh Kean Yew

The most commendable victory at Day 2 Australian Open 2023 was World rank 50, Mithun Manjunath upset fourth seed Loh Kean Yew with a stunning 21-19, 21-19 victory. Manjunath slammed several spectacular smashes onto Yew’s backhand to win the match 21-19, 21-19.

Meanwhile, HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth, and PV Sindhu have advanced to the second round. On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, sixth seed Prannoy defeated Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk Yiu in the opening round of the competition, 21-18, 16-21, 21-15.

Aakarshi Kashyap accompanied Sindhu as he competed against Malaysia’s Goh Jin Wei. Kashyap used incredible mental strength to win the game 21-15, 21-17. Tasnim Mir and Malvika Bansod were the other two Indians competing in the women’s singles division, however they both lost.

Earlier, Kidambi Srikanth defeated Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto (21-18, 21-7) to go to the second round. PV Sindhu won her opening round match with a score of 21-18, 21-13 over compatriot Ashmita Chaliha. Lakshya Sen, on the other hand, was injured and had to withdraw from the first round match against Kiran George.

The only Indian mixed doubles partners on court today were Rohan/Sikki and Sumeeth/Ashwini. However, neither combination was able to win their bouts. Sumeeth and Ashwini were defeated by Japanese Midorikawa/Saito, while Rohan and Sikki were defeated by Korean Seo/Chae.
