Vidit Gujrathi, an Indian Grandmaster, was defeated by Chinese player Wei Yi in the seventh round and is now tied for second position with 5 points from 7 rounds. Nodirbek Abdusattorov of Uzbekistan is tied for second place with Gujrathi.

Vidit Gujrathi has shown his prowess with 2 wins and 1 loss. In a gripping Round 5, he emerged victorious against Parham Maghsoudloo of Iran. Round 6 saw another fantastic win against Nodirbek Abdusattorov of Uzbekistan. However, Round 7 brought a formidable challenge in the form of Yi Wei from China, resulting in a loss.

Arjun Erigaisi, the only Indian in the mix, upset Indonesia’s Novendra Priasmoro in the seventh round to reach 4.5 points. He is tied for third place with three other players. Koneru Humpy and D Harika won the women’s event in the fifth round after a poor performance on the first day of competition on Monday.

Arjun has had an eventful run with 1 draw, 1 loss, and 1 win. In Round 5, he displayed his resilience by drawing against Javokhir Sindarov of Uzbekistan. Round 6 was a tough encounter that ended in a loss against Bilguun Sumiya of Mongolia. But Arjun bounced back with a win in Round 7, defeating Novendra Priasmoro of Indonesia.

While Humpy defeated Uzbekistan’s Nilufar Yakubbaeva, Harika defeated Vietnam’s Vo Thi Kim Phung. The Indian players were paired with their respective opponents in the sixth and seventh rounds.

Koneru Humpy , a force to be reckoned with, secured 1 win and 2 draws. In Round 5, she displayed her dominance by winning against Nilufar Yakubbaeva of Uzbekistan. Rounds 6 and 7 brought intense battles that ended in draws against Medina Warda Aulia of Indonesia and Zhansaya Abdumalik of Kazakhstan, respectively.

Harika Dronavalli demonstrated her chess prowess with 1 win and 2 draws. Round 5 saw her victorious against Thi Kim Phung of Vietnam. Rounds 6 and 7, however, concluded with draws against Zhansaya Abdumalik of Kazakhstan and Munkhzul Turmunh of Mongolia.
