FIBA 3×3 World Tour 2024 smashes records in historic season

MIES (Switzerland) – The FIBA 3×3 World Tour showed no sign of slowing down in 2024 as the competition continues to raise the bar year-on-year reinforcing 3×3 basketball’s position as the world’s fastest growing urban sport.

Over the course of an action-packed season, across 17 iconic 3×3 basketball locations, some of the world’s best players delivered memorable performances which captured the imaginations of fans from every corner of the globe. This translated into unprecedented social media numbers with impressions up by 46.4% from last year to 366 million. Views went up by a staggering 76% to 352 million compared to 2023, while engagements increased to 12 million up from 10 million the previous year.

3×3 basketball’s growing global fanbase was able to watch the FIBA 3×3 World Tour via a record number of broadcast partners reaching more than 150 countries across all five Continents, ensuring no matter where fans were in the world they were able to watch their favourite stars in action.

In the venues, hundreds of thousands of fans delivered festival atmospheres over the course of the season, as sport, music and culture fused together in a way it only does in 3×3. From Bahrain and Abu Dhabi to Amsterdam and the Final in Hong Kong, the players and fans all contributed to an exciting season.

It was not just the World Tour where 3×3 basketball excelled in 2024. More than 300 players competed in the pro circuit this year. Meanwhile the 22 Challenger events this year demonstrated the strength and depth of the sport with many new teams knocking at the door of World Tour stardom.

Looking ahead to 2025, fans can expect another thrilling season of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour, with a similar number of events and an exciting opener set to take place in Utsunomiya on April 26-27.
