The excitement in the world of Indian swimming reached new heights at the Asian Games 2022, as the Indian Men’s 4x100m Medley Relay team achieved something truly remarkable. In a heart-pounding display of skill and teamwork, they secured their spot in the finals, setting the pool on fire with their incredible performance.
During the heats, the Indian team displayed sheer determination and dedication, finishing in a sensational 4th place overall. What makes this achievement even more astounding is the blazing time they clocked – a stunning 3 minutes and 40.84 seconds. The team qualified for the final after finishing overall fourth in the heats with an impressive timing of 3:40.84s. The team comprised of Srihari Nataraj, Likith Selvaraj, Sajan Prakash and Tanish George Matthew. The Indian team will swim in the men’s 4x100m medley relay final later on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Palak Joshi failed to advance to the final after finishing 14th in the women’s 200m backstroke heats with a timing of 2:25:81. Shivangi Sarma clocked in at 58.31 to finish seventh in her heat and 17th overall in women’s 100m Freestyle and failed to qualify for the final.
Earlier, Srihari Nataraj had qualified for the final of the men’s 50m backstroke event but finished in sixth place in the medal round. Nataraj recorded a time of 25.39 seconds in what was his second final in two days. Nataraj had also finished sixth in the men’s 100m backstroke final on Sunday.
Also performing at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Aquatic Sports Arena, Likith Selvaraj claimed the seventh position in the men’s 100m breaststroke final event. He surpassed his previous timing of 1:01.98 seconds, finishing with an improved timing of 1:01.62 seconds.
India’s men’s 4x200m freestyle team of Aryan Nehra, Aneesh Gowda, Kushagra Rawat and Tanish George Mathew also reached the final. Their efforts resulted in a seventh-place finish with a timing of 7:29.23 seconds.
India has sent a 21-member swimming contingent to the Asian Games this year, with 12 men and 9 women
