Indian Rowing Triumph: Men’s Lightweight & Doubles Sculls Crews Secure Spots in Asian Games Fina

Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh of India advanced to the final of the Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls at the Asian Games on Thursday, September 21st. Another Indian pair, Parminder Singh and Satnam Singh, advanced to the final after winning the repechage in Men’s Doubles Sculls earlier in the day. The final will be held on September 24 at Hangzhou’s Fuyang Water Sports Centre.

Arvind and Arjun Lal kicked off the day’s action in Rowing Repechage. They finished in 6.55.78 seconds, securing a berth in the final. The pair took an early lead and never relinquished it until the conclusion.

Japan came in second with a time of 7:05.91, while the Philippines came in third with a time of 7:10.97. Yesterday, the Indian couple finished second in the first round of their respective tournament.

Meanwhile, Satnam Singh (bow) and Parminder Singh won the Men’s Doubles Sculls repechage. They finished first in Double Skulls with a time of 6.48.06 seconds. Iraq (which also earned an FA finish), Hong Kong China, Sri Lanka, and Kuwait completed the field.

Satnam and Parminder advanced to the repechage after coming second in the heats. They finished in 6:27.01 seconds, trailing Chinese competitors Liu Zhiyu and Liang Zhang.

India’s Women’s Doubles Sculls of Kiran and Anshika Bharti finished fourth in the repechage on the day. They will now battle for sixth through twelfth place.
