On Sunday, August 20, the Indian women’s 25m pistol team won the gold medal in the 2023 ISSF World Championships in Baku. India has already won three gold medals at the competition. At the ISSF World Championships, the exceptional Indian team of Rhythm Sangwan, Manu Bhaker, and Esha Singh won first place with a total score of 1744.

The team from Chinese Taipei won the event’s silver medal with a score of 1743. The Chinese squad, meanwhile, won the bronze medal. India’s Rhythm Sangwan advanced to the final in the women’s 25m pistol individual category.

Later, Akhil Sheoran won a bronze medal and an Olympic quota for India in the men’s 50-meter rifle 3-positions event. At the 2023 ISSF World Championships, Indian shooters have won six medals—three gold and three bronze—so far.

The women’s 10m air rifle team of Ramita, Mehuli Ghosh, and Tilottama Sen won yet another gold medal. Additionally, Mehuli Ghosh qualified for the Paris Olympics by winning a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air rifle competition.

The Indian shooters, however, fell short of expectations in other discrete competitions. Not to mention that these competitions offered a chance to earn Olympic quota spots. Neither male nor female shooters were allowed to advance to the finals of the 10m air pistol individual competition. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Divyansh Singh Panwar, and Hriday Hazarika failed not advance to the final round in the men’s 10m air rifle competition either.
