Manasi Joshi and Thulasimathi Sekar Clinch Gold in Fazza Para Badminton Women’s Doubles

Manasi Joshi and Thulasimathi Murugesan won the women’s doubles title, while Tokyo Paralympic champion Pramod Bhagat finished with two silver medals on Monday at the 5th Fazza Dubai Para-Badminton International 2023.

The tournament took place in the United Arab Emirates from December 11 to December 17.

Manaasi and Murugesan, ranked second in the world in para-badminton, defeated the Indonesian duo of Leani Ratri Oktila and Khalimatus Sadiyah 15-21 21-14 21-6 to win gold in the women’s doubles SL3-SU5 division.

Bhagat, a Para Asian gold medalist, finished second in the SL3 final, losing 17-21 18-21 against England’s Daniel Bethell. In the final of the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 division, Bhagat and Manisha Ramdass were defeated by Indonesia’s Hikmat Ramdani and Leani Ratri Oktila 14-21 11-21

With Kumar Nitesh and Thulasimathi Murugesan, Team India also won bronze in mixed doubles SL3 and SU5. Suhas Yathiraj of Tokyo won silver in the men’s SL 4 category, while Sukant Kadam and Tarun took bronze. Palak Kohli won bronze in the women’s singles (SL4). Manoj Sarkar and his Korean partner Cho Nadan won silver in the men’s doubles Sl 3- SL4 division, while Kumar Nitesh and Tarun took bronze.
