Priyanka and Vikash Claim Medals in 20km Racewalk in Asian Athletics Championship 2023

On Sunday, Priyanka Goswami and Vikash Singh took silver and bronze in the 20km race walk event at the Asian Athletics Championships in Bangkok.

With a timing of 1:34:24, Priyanka finished second in the women’s race behind China’s Yang Liujing. Despite winning a gold, her time was much below her personal best of 1:28:45.

With a time of 1:38:26, Bhawna Jat could only finish fifth in the event.

Vikash, on the other side, took bronze in the men’s 20km race walk in 1:29:32, trailing Yutaro Murayama of Japan (1:24:40) and Wang Kaihua of China (1:25:29).

Vikash also broke his personal best of 1:20:05, which he achieved earlier this season. The judges disqualified Akshdeep Singh, the other competitor in the event.

Priyanka and Vikash have already qualified for the World Championships in Budapest and the Olympics in Paris in 2024.
