Sankar Muthusamy of India has risen nine places to world number 71, his career peak in the men’s singles. Last week, the World Junior Championships 2022 silver winner advanced to the quarter-finals of the US Open 2023, defeating WR-32 Nhat Nyugen and WR-35 Zilberman. The youngster eventually fell against compatriot Lakshya Sen in a straight game, but he earned vital ranking points that helped him reach WR-71.

Among the other Indians competing, HS Prannoy fell a spot to WR-10. Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth maintain their WR-12 and WR-20 rankings from the previous week.

In the doubles event, Asian Champions Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty remain in third place, with second-ranked pairs team MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila sliding a position to WR-27.

Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand of the young women’s doubles team have fallen a rank to 19th. The duo hasn’t competed in many events this year, but they’ll be back on the BWF Tour this week after a long sabbatical.
