World No. 1 Sun Yingsha issued her statement of intent to reclaim her Singapore Smash Women’s Singles title with a comfortable 3-0 (11-3,11-3, 11-7) win over Suh Hyo Won from the Korea Republic on Monday.
“When it comes to playing against a defensive player, it is key to understand and anticipate the spin well and also possess the ability to make consecutive attacks. I’m happy I managed to do that against Suh today. This is my first match of the competition and I’m feeling better than expected especially when it comes to controlling my match rhythm and tempo,” said Sun.

Jeon Ji-hee, called time on her 14-year professional table tennis career, playing out her last competitive match against friend and long-time doubles partner Shin Yubin in their Round of 64 clash prevailing 3-0 (11-8, 11-6, 11-7).
“I’m really grateful to WTT for inviting me again. Originally, I wasn’t planning to compete in 2025, but receiving this special invitation made me very happy. It felt like a proper farewell match, not just saying goodbye to everyone but also a way to say goodbye to myself. As for my match with Shin, I was just thrilled. Playing my last match with her felt special,” said Jeon.
