Christian, along with teammates Matías Zagazeta and Nicola Lacorte, will be looking to help his team make an impact during their first year in the FIA Formula 3 Championship. The Le Mans-based squad has a longstanding history in motorsport, stretching back over the last 30 years, winning 31 international titles and earning 173 victories across 15 different championships. During this time, they have helped 33 racers turn their F1 dreams into a reality, including current drivers Alex Albon, Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz and Kevin Magnussen.

The team competes in the FIA Formula 2 Championship and has been racing at that level since 1989 beginning with the series’ predecessors International Formula 3000 and GP2 Series.

Christian, 18, said: “I’m happy to be joining DAMS Lucas Oil and proud to be the first F3 driver from Singapore. DAMS Lucas Oil are a strong team and they have a lot of experience in racing, so I’m excited to be working with them and learning as much as I can. It’s the first season racing in F3 for both myself and the team and there will definitely be challenges or hiccups along the way, but I’m looking forward to it. I had a strong season in the Eurocup-3 last year and I hope to continue that form this year. We want to be competitive in the series, which is one of the toughest in the world, so we’re going to keep working hard and keep getting better to deliver the best possible results together.”

Charles Pic, DAMS Lucas Oil Team owner and former F1 driver, said: “We’re delighted to have signed Christian, his pace during the test days was impressive and he has a great racing CV. It’s amazing for him to be the first driver from his nation to compete in F3. We’re pleased to now have our 2025 line-up confirmed and we’ll continue working hard to be in good shape when we arrive in Melbourne.”

The third-tier F3 kicks off in Melbourne in March and the full calendar can be found here: https://www.fiaformula3.com/Latest/2eWwXxDwcGbYeJkcipd19x/2025-fia-formula-3-calendar-announced.

Christian’s historic participation in the FIA F3 Championship was announced last September and comes as he continues working towards his dream of competing in Formula 1, the pinnacle of motorsport.

Since moving to Europe at 11 to pursue his motorsport career, Christian has been making waves in the industry. He has consistently been one of the top drivers for his age group and made steady progress earning a promotion to the next category of racing on a yearly basis. When he was 12, he became the first Asian to win a race in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy and was the series’ overall runner-up. In 2020, he finished fourth in the 2020 FIA World Karting Championship – Junior and third in the WSK Champions Cup. Following a successful karting career, Christian made the move up to single-seater racing in 2022 when he raced in his first full F4 Spanish Championship season. After finishing 13th in his rookie season, he placed second the next season after clinching five wins and 13 podium finishes. He then made the step up to Eurocup-3 last year, earning six wins and four more podium finishes to be crowned rookie champion. Christian finished second in the drivers’ standings at the end of the 2024 Eurocup-3 season but the official results are being finalised following an appeal in the last round.

The FIA F3 championship is part of motorsport’s governing body FIA’s pathway aimed at helping drivers reach the pinnacle of the sport, sitting in between the FIA Formula 4 and Formula 2 championships. Most if not all F1 drivers go through the third-tier championship which serves as a feeder series.

The FIA F3 season typically takes place on the sidelines of F1 races at the same circuits. The 2024 season consisted of 30 drivers (10 teams), 10 rounds and included iconic venues such as England’s Silverstone, Monaco’s street circuit and the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
