Pan Pacific Hotels Group, Mazda and OCBC pledge support as Singapore hosts World Aquatics Championships for the first time
SINGAPORE, 29 November 2024 – The World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025 (WCH) unveiled its first three national partners on Friday (29 November), with the Pan Pacific Hotels Group, Trans-Eurokars Mazda and OCBC officially confirmed as the event’s hotel, automobile and banking partners respectively.
Their presence reflects the strong backing from local businesses in the lead-up to a milestone year for Singapore, with the World Aquatics Championships and World Aquatics Masters Championships – Singapore 2025 identified as one of the major programmes in the nation’s year-long SG60 celebrations. OCBC has committed a significant cash sponsorship and OCBC cardholders will also enjoy exclusive benefits and promotions in the lead up to WCH. More details on these exclusive benefits will be released at a later date. PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay and PARKROYAL on Beach Road, which operate under the Pan Pacific Hotels Group brand, will provide close to 9,000 room nights for more than 500 officials involved in the 11 July to 3 August 2025 Championships.
Mazda, whose vehicles in Singapore are distributed exclusively by Trans-Eurokars, is no stranger to supporting the aquatics fraternity, having been recently unveiled as the Official Car Partner of Singapore Aquatics. At the WCH next year, Trans-Eurokars Mazda will supply more than 100 cars for participating athletes and officials, with the fleet comprising four Mazda models – the Mazda6 Sedan, Mazda CX-5, Mazda CX-60, as well as a new model that has yet to be launched. Trans-Eurokars Mazda is also sponsoring a Mazda3 Sedan Classic (excluding COE) worth $82,000 as a lucky draw prize for ticketholders residing in Singapore. Collectively, the first wave of national partners has committed to sponsorships worth about $5 million for the Championships.
Mr. Chong Kah Wei, Managing Director of Mazda Singapore, said: “We are happy to extend our support of the aquatics into the global stage, where we hope to continue creating positive experiences and greater journeys with the local and international communities.”
Ms. Cinn Tan, Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer of Pan Pacific Hotels Group (PPHG), said: “The World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025 is such an exciting and important event as Singapore celebrates her 60th year of independence and becomes the first Southeast Asian nation to host these Championships. As a homegrown Singaporean brand, PPHG is proud to be the Official Hotel Partner of this global event collaborating with like-minded organisations to champion sports, lifestyle and wellness. This alliance includes in-kind sponsorship of meeting facilities and rooms across both PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay and PARKROYAL on Beach Road, available to WCH officials before and during the Championships. With our established facilities and commitment to delivering the best experiences, we look forward to welcoming officials and international technical officers from around the world, utilising close to 9,000 room nights at both hotels.”
Ms. Koh Ching Ching, Head of Group Brand & Communications of OCBC, said: “We are excited to be among the sponsors of the World Aquatics Championship, which will be held next year in a Southeast Asian country for the first time. We are proud that Singapore has achieved this regional honour, especially because 2025 also marks Singapore’s 60th year of independence – and aquatics sports have long been one of the key fixtures in Singapore’s sporting scene. The OCBC Aquatic Centre will be a fitting venue to host so many top athletes from around the world, from divers to water polo players, and we hope to extend the use of the world-class venues at the Singapore Sports Hub to the local community.”
