Ace of Courts: Celebrating the Stellar Journey and Endeavors of Srikanth Kidambi on His Birthday

Srikanth Kidambi’s ascent in the world of badminton is a tale of dedication and passion.
Born on 7th January 1993 in Ravulapalem, a village in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, Srikanth comes from an agricultural family. His father, a farmer and landlord, and his mother, a housewife, supported his early interest in badminton, which he began playing in 2001 after being inspired by his elder brother, Kidambi Nandagopal, also a badminton player.

Initially considered lazy, Srikanth’s talent and work ethic blossomed after joining the Gopichand Badminton Academy in 2008, where he was mentored by Pullela Gopichand, who honed his focus and game. Srikanth’s career highlights include his –
1. Major win at the 2011 National Badminton Championships
2. 2014 China Open
3. 2015 Australian Super Series title
4. 2014 China Open title
5. 2019 India Open
6. and most importantly his splendid performance in commonwealth games in 2018 & 2022

His achievements in the sport peaked when he was ranked No.1 in the world in April 2018, and he continues to strive for excellence, aiming for a spot in the the Paris Olympics.
