On the sixth and final day of the Commonwealth Youth Games, three Indian participants won medals, bringing India’s medal count to five. India finished the Games in 17th position.

Asha Kiran Barla won silver in the 800m with a time of 2:04.99s, just a few milliseconds slower than her personal best of 2:04.82 set at the Federation Cup in May. Gill Phoebe of England won the gold medal with a time of 2:02.30s. Cooper Fleur of Australia took bronze with a time of 2:05.86s.

Asha’s silver was India’s second medal of the Games, following Shoan Ganguly’s second-place result in the 400m individual medley. Meanwhile, Pooja from Haryana won the bronze medal in high jump, setting a new personal best with a 1.75m leap.

During the National Inter-State Athletics Championships, Pooja jumped 1.73m. In Trinidad and Tobago, the youngster was tied with Lousin-Roe Izobelle, who both took off with a -0.03 gap. The gold and silver medals were to Australia’s Stolberg Toby and England’s Brown Thea.
