India U-31 Bridge Team Secures Bronze, Defeating China at World Youth Team Championships

On Monday, India’s U-31 team took bronze at the just ended World Youth Bridge Championship in Veldhoven, Netherlands. The Indian U-31 squad defeated Bulgaria in the semifinals before falling to eventual champion France. The national federation claimed in a release that it made a remarkable comeback to defeat China 112-104 in the bronze medal play-off match.

Shib Nath Dey Sarkar, the 2018 Asian Games gold medalist in Jakarta, is the coach and non-playing captain of the Indian U-31 squad.

Three Indian pairs competed: Sayantan Kushari-Sagnik Roy, Pritam Das-Souvik Kar, and Swarnashish Chatterjee-Wrik Chakraborty

The Indian senior teams will also compete at the World Championships later this month in Marrakech, Morocco.
